PRINCESS AND THE PEA PODCAST
with Annie Crowe
"The Princess and the Pea" is a classic fairy tale about a prince who is searching for a true princess to marry. One stormy night, a young woman arrives at the prince's castle claiming to be a princess. The queen is skeptical, so she devises a test to determine if the young woman is truly a princess.
The queen places a pea at the bottom of the young woman's bed and then covers it with twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds. The next morning, the queen asks the young woman how she slept, and she complains of being uncomfortable and not getting any rest due to feeling something hard in the bed. The queen is convinced that the young woman is a true princess, as no one but a true princess could have such delicate sensitivity.
The prince is overjoyed that he has finally found a true princess and asks for her hand in marriage. They live happily ever after, and the pea is put on display in the castle as a reminder of the young woman's sensitivity and her true princess status.
